Tailored Tails Salon Policies

At Tailored Tails, our goal is to provide a safe, calm, and comfortable grooming experience for every pet. The following policies help us maintain a smooth schedule while ensuring the health and wellbeing of the animals in our care.

Appointment Policy

All grooming services are by appointment only. This allows us to provide each pet with dedicated time, individualized care, and a low-stress grooming environment.

Arrival Policy

Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before and no later than 10 minutes after your scheduled appointment time. Arrivals outside of this window may need to be rescheduled to avoid disrupting other scheduled appointments.

Pricing

At Tailored Tails, every service is customized to the individual pet.

All Prices listed are starting points. Coat condition, matting, behavior, and overall grooming time may affect final pricing. We are committed to your pet’s comfort and will always communicate any significant adjustments prior to proceeding.

Walk-In Services

At this time we do not offer walk-in services. Our appointment-based schedule allows us to maintain a calm environment and provide attentive, un-rushed care to every pet.

Matting Policy

Severely matted coats can cause significant discomfort and may hide skin irritation, sores, or parasites. When matting is present, the safest and most humane option is often to shave the coat short rather than attempt to brush or demat it.

Dematting can be painful and stressful for pets and may cause skin irritation or injury. For this reason, Tailored Tails prioritizes the pet’s comfort and wellbeing when determining the safest grooming approach. Additional fees may apply for matted coats due to the extra time, care, and equipment required.

By scheduling an appointment, owners acknowledge that mat removal may be necessary and authorize the groomer to proceed with the safest option for the pet.

Flea & Parasite Policy

If fleas or flea dirt are discovered during your pet’s appointment, a flea treatment fee will be applied. This covers the cost of specialized shampoo and the additional sanitation required to protect other pets in the salon. In cases of severe infestations, grooming may be stopped and veterinary care may be recommended.

Anal Gland Expressions

We do not perform anal gland expressions. This procedure is best handled by a veterinarian who can properly assess your pet for any underlying medical concerns such as infection, inflammation, or impaction.

Nail Caps

We do not provide nail cap applications. Nail caps require ongoing monitoring and routine replacement as nails grow, so they are best applied and maintained at home or by a veterinarian.

Pet Health & Safety

For the safety of all pets in our care, please inform us of any health conditions, injuries, behavioral concerns, or sensitivities prior to your appointment. Grooming can sometimes expose pre-existing skin conditions or irritations that may not have been visible beforehand.

Aggressive or Unsafe Behavior

The safety of pets and staff is extremely important. If a pet displays aggressive or unsafe behavior that prevents safe grooming, the service may be stopped and the appointment may need to be rescheduled.
